ATS Keywords for
Product Managers

Product management CVs fail the keyword screen for a specific reason: the work is mostly influence, and influence is hard to name. A PM writes "led the launch of the new onboarding flow" and omits roadmap, prioritisation, discovery, A/B test and activation metric — the actual terms in the requisition. Product postings are also split between growth, platform and enterprise PM work, each with its own vocabulary. The list below covers the shared core plus the specialisation terms worth checking against the posting.

14 ATS keywords for Product Manager CVs

What each term signals to the system reading your CV.

  • Product roadmap

The most consistently screened PM term, present in nearly every requisition.

  • Product strategy

Distinguishes senior applications from execution-level ones in a weighted screen.

  • User research / customer discovery

Names the input side of the job, which execution-heavy CVs routinely omit.

  • Prioritization (RICE, MoSCoW)

Framework names are searched literally and show a repeatable decision process.

  • A/B testing / experimentation

A hard requirement for growth and consumer product roles.

  • Agile / Scrum / sprint planning

The delivery ceremony vocabulary that HR-side screens check for directly.

  • Stakeholder management

The cross-functional core of the role and standard requisition phrasing.

  • KPIs / product metrics

Signals you own outcomes rather than feature output.

  • User stories / requirements

The written artefact the role produces, named explicitly in most postings.

  • Go-to-market

Screened for launch-facing roles and commonly absent from platform-PM CVs.

  • Competitive analysis

Market-facing work that appears in strategy-weighted requisitions.

  • Product analytics (Amplitude, Mixpanel)

Tool names prove you read your own data rather than requesting it.

  • Cross-functional leadership

The phrase requisitions use for leading without authority.

  • Discovery to delivery

End-to-end ownership language used by product-led organisations.

How to use this list

  • Rewrite each bullet as outcome plus metric — "cut onboarding drop-off 18%" — and the metrics keywords appear naturally.
  • Match the specialisation to the posting: growth PM, platform PM and enterprise PM screen for noticeably different terms.
  • Name the analytics and delivery tools you personally used; tools are literal matches where "data-driven" is not.
  • Say what you decided, not only what shipped. Prioritisation and trade-off language is what senior PM screens weight.

Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know before you upload.

How do I write a PM CV when the wins were the team's?

Claim the decision, not the code. "Prioritised X over Y based on retention data, shipping in six weeks" is accurate, keeps the credit honest, and carries the prioritisation and metrics vocabulary the screen wants.

Do technical keywords help a product manager?

They help for platform, API and developer-tool roles, where requisitions genuinely screen for technical fluency. For consumer product roles they add little and can crowd out the discovery and metrics terms that matter more.

Is a certification like CSPO worth listing?

It is a cheap literal match for postings that mention it, so include it in a certifications line. It carries far less weight than shipped products with measured outcomes.
