Accounting requisitions are precise in a way few other fields are, because the work is defined by standards, cycles and systems. A posting will name the reporting framework (GAAP or IFRS), the ERP, the part of the cycle you own, and the certification it wants. That precision makes the screen unusually mechanical: the terms either appear in your CV or they do not. Core transactional vocabulary that confirms hands-on rather than supervisory work.

- Name the reporting framework you work under — GAAP and IFRS are not interchangeable to a filter or a hiring manager.
- List the ERP by name and version era; system familiarity is often the single highest-weighted term in the posting.
- State your close timeline and the size of the entity: "five-day close for a €40M revenue entity" is instantly legible.
- Put certifications, including in-progress ones with the expected date, in a clearly labelled block near the top.

How much does the ERP system matter?
A great deal. Many accounting postings name SAP, Oracle or NetSuite as a requirement because migration cost is real, and the screen checks for it directly. List every system you have closed a period in.
I am studying for my CPA — should I mention it?
Yes. "CPA candidate, three of four sections passed, completion expected 2027" matches the keyword honestly and signals commitment. Leaving it off means you miss a filter you partly satisfy.
Public practice or industry — do the keywords differ?
Yes. Practice postings screen for audit, client portfolios and engagement work; industry postings screen for close, reporting and ERP. Moving between them means deliberately adding the target side's vocabulary.
